This day I love.......

The girls love imaginative play.  They love their Schleich figures and creating adventures.  Recently the girls were sent the Croco jungle research station by Schleich, and they were keen to create an adventure.  First though we had to build the station.

The Croco Jungle Research station took around 15 minutes to build but the instructions were clear and easy to follow.  Each piece was easy to fit together and nothing was too fiddly, in fact it was actually simple to build.  The girls helped, assembling trap doors and filling chests with gold coins.  As you would expect with Schleich everything is of exceptional build quality and could withstand a 5 year old attempting to fit pieces together.

The croco jungle research station is quite large when built and does take up most of my coffee table, the advantage is though that there is plenty of room to play.  The girls started making up their own individual stories whilst intertwining with each others imagination.  My youngest got the vet van and brought it over to the research station to aid her sister who had captured a crocodile!

The quality and detail on each piece is simply amazing, and I think it is down to the amount of detail that sparks such creativity.  The animals look realistic, even Little Man has begun to recognise animals from his Schleich animals.  There is so much care to attention to detail, photos cannot do each piece justice.

The Croco jungle research station as 3 areas that can be played with independently or together.  The crocodile rock has an upper jaw that can be opened, closed or removed.  Inside the jaw is a hiding place in one of the teeth.  The back of the skull can also be removed to reveal a hidden treasure chamber.  The Crocodile rock can then be clipped to the viewing platform.  In doing so the secret trapdoor leads into the treasure chamber.  This is then linked to the house.  A ranger and scientific equipment come with the set, along with 4 animals, and the girls use the house as the rangers house.  The third piece is a pen.  The girls open the pen up and use to capture crocodiles.  The pen can be placed near the house or further away.

There are so many ways that the Croco jungle research station can be played with.  The girls can play their own games but still interact with each other.  Little Man is often given an animal to play with.  It is rare that you can find something that can entertain 3 children of such varying ages.  The Croco jungle research station would make a perfect gift.

We were sent the croco jungle research station in exchange for this post.  All words are my own opinion.

My youngest in particular loves dolls, or babies as she prefers to call them.  She gets them ready every night before bed and makes sure they have milk in the morning.  Her babies though need somewhere special to call their own.

The Baby Annabell Bedroom is an adorable canvas house, decorated in the iconic Baby Annabell print.  It opens up to reveal something rather special.

Inside are a mirror and hooks to hang all the essential items.  A wardrobe with storage compartment, complete with a blanket and pillow.    The wardrobe has a hanging rail to hang all babies clothes and space to store other items.

On the other side is a fold out canvas bed, perfect for baby

The Baby Annabell bedroom even comes with a cot mobile to hang over the bed

The Baby Annabell bedroom is such a wonderful playset.  I love that it comes with everything you would need for your baby and how it can spark such imagination in the girls.  This is a really wonderful gift for any child who loves to play babies.

For quite some time my youngest daughter has been asking for sand, but not just any sand she wants sparkly sand that she can make things with. When I heard about Cra-z-Sand I knew she would want to have a try.

Cra-z-Sand is mould able sand. It can be sprinkled like sand, but has a stickier consistency which means it moulds together really well. Loose pieces of the Cra-z-Sand can be picked up together in a ball, a bit like when you clean blue tac off a wall using bits of other blue tac.

We received the glitter pony Cra-z-Sand set. The sand was full of glitter, very sparkly and with three colours. The pink, blue and white soon all got mixed together to form a purple but it is still used just as much. The sand is placed into moulds and carefully constructed shares are formed.

Cra-z-Sand is perfect for little fingers and developing fine motor skills. It got the girls thinking and using their imagination to build different shapes. My youngest daughter simply loves her Cra-z-Sand play set and has asked for another with different colours for Christmas.

My friend and I had met for dinner at a new restaurant in town, Casdon, we were shown to our seats and a friendly waitress asked us for our order.

Our order was taken to the kitchen so that food preparation could begin.  Our order was discussed in great details to ensure all requested items were available and the best way to cook our dinner.

Using the Casdon Oven and Microwave, our food was carefully prepared.  The girls chatting away to each other discussing different food options.

Waiting patiently for each item to cook before cooking the next.

Working together as a group to get everything ready

The cooks worked together using the oven, grill and microwave.

Whilst others carefully chopped the ingredients ready for the cooks to use

Each item was sampled by the chief tester

Any adjustments were carefully made

Before food was plated up and ready to be served.

After a rather lovely meal at Casdon restaurant, it was time for a cup of tea before heading home.

Thank you to Casdon for providing the Oven to feature in our Casdon restaurant.

My children learn best through play.  I personally feel that when learning is fun that children will often learn more as they become engrossed in what they are doing.  Not only this but they also remember what they did.

‘Educational Play the Schleich Way’ is a new initiative from Schleich.  Schleich have created a 16 page brochure to accompany the campaign and within it is a wealth of ideas.  The guide begins by discussing the different roles within a balanced play diet.  This was something I had never thought of before, but it makes perfect sense.  Giving children a mixture of active, social, Creative and free play.  Another important point the guide makes it to be there for your child and to play with them.  I think we all get busy sometimes and it is important to make time to play.

The guide also explores other issues such as sharing.  With each one it gives ideas of how to help and makes suggestions of how to use some of the Schleich range.  I felt it very important that the guide states not to gender stereotype toys because every child is different.

My youngest is learning about size at school and so we used our Schleich toys to extend this learning at home.  First we lined our toys up with the biggest ears, then by size and finally feet.

When we had collected her sister from school the girls played together in the garden with the Schleich animals.  My youngest showed her sister which was the biggest and which had the biggest ears, reciting everything we had talked about earlier.  The girls then began to bath the animals before taking them down to the grass for some food.  They each took it in turns to look after each animal and it was simply lovely listening to their story unfold as they played together.

Schleich toys have been a success with the girls.  They love how detailed each one is, so things like sorting is made easy.  The details also spark conversations as they discuss which has more black on it, the zebra or the cow?.  They also love that they can play with them in water as well as out of the water, without damaging them!

If you would like to find out more about the Schleich campaign there is a link to the brochure in the side bar.

We spent this afternoon with friends at a museum that is very hands on for children.  This made it great for the girls as they could explore and learn by playing.  Use their imagination and generally have a lot of fun.

The girls looked around the exhibitions and enjoyed the hands on exhibits, however their favourite area was the dressing up box.  They wasted no time in using their imaginations and coming up with stories.

I think their favourite game by quite a long way was the dragon who chased the princess.

dress up as dragon

It was lovely to watch them all take turns in dressing up as the dragon and chasing each other.

eldest as dragon

My favourite though was the spaceman, she did look rather good!

This day I love Dragons, princess and a spaceman

I have been looking for a while now for that extra special item to finish my daughters bedroom.  She has a blue and lilac theme with birds and blossom.  I knew what I wanted but just never managed to find it until now.  oskar&ellen provided the solution with their beautiful bird house.

I was surprised to learn that oskar&ellen hand make every item.  The attention to detail is beyond outstanding and the quality is like nothing I have ever seen before.  The birdhouse is soft to touch and makes a wonderful addition not only to my daughters room but also for imaginative play.

The front of the bird house opens up and with plenty of Velcro it is easy to fasten it back together again.

Whilst the item does come with a reusable mesh bag, I plan to hang the birdhouse in my daughters room to finish off the decorations.  However the mesh bag would be great for storage if I needed it.

oskar&ellen seem to have covered every type of imaginative play item you can think of, along with Christmas decorations, stockings and bunting.  If you are looking for a high quality gift that will last than I would seriously look at oskar&ellen, I know our bird house is going to withstand the test of my youngest!

We were provided with a oskar&ellen bird house for purpose of review, all words are my own opinion.

As you may have read in part 1, I wanted to give a sneak peak to some of the items the girls will be unwrapping this Christmas. You may have read the girls will be getting a wooden dolls house and a princess castle, I therefore thought it would be lovely to also get them some wooden furniture to go inside.

I wanted wooden furniture as the castle and the house are both wooden and felt it would work much better. Plus I generally prefer wooden toys. I came across the sweet bee furniture range from big game hunters and knew this was the furniture fit for a princess.

You can purchase the furniture for individual rooms or as sets. Each set contains 3 rooms, and I have the bathroom, kitchen and children's room set.

The furniture is painted in lovely pastel colours with great attention to detail. The shower curtain opens for example and the chairs fit neatlys under the kitchen dresser. There is even toast/bread in the toaster. The great thing about these room sets is that they can be played with anywhere. They don't have to be kept in the house.

In the summer I can see the girls playing outside on the grass or in the sand with them, and because they are such good quality they will withstand the play. Each item fits neatly inside the dolls house and adds that little spark of imagination to the girls play.

I am really looking forward to watching stories unfold as the girls play with the furniture in the dolls house.

We were sent the furniture sent to review.  All words are my own opinion.

My youngest daughter is probably Minnie Mouse biggest fan. She simply adores her. Given the choice she always wants to wear her Minnie Mouse clothes. She will always ask to watch Minnie Mouse on TV and if she could she would have everything Minnie Mouse she could spot in the shops.

The new fisher price Minnie Mouse bowtique house was therefore at the top of my daughters wish list. With a Minnie Mouse and a cat to play with inside the house she was obviously very excited to open the box.

There is some self assembly to start with but once built the bowtique is very sturdy, with the exception of the side stair case, for whatever reason this seems to fall off on a regular basis. However this does not stop play. There were only a few stickers to attach so play could start within 10minutes. Once built my eldest wasted no time.

The bowtique comes with a great range of furniture everything for bathroom, bedroom and even the kitchen. Imaginative play can start straight away. My youngest simply loved playing, her imagination working the whole time as Minnie took a bath and then washed the cat before making her lunch and watching TV. The Minnie Mouse bowtique play house is a great addition for any Minnie Mouse fan.

With Christmas just around the corner, I have got myself organised (well sort of) and almost finished my Christmas shopping. I thought I would give you a sneak peak at what I have got the girls for Christmas.

The first thing on the girls wish list was a dolls house and a fairy castle. I do love wooden toys, there is something about them. I decided to look around for a good quality and reasonably priced dolls house and fairy castle. I came across George (Asda) wooden toy collection and was simply taken away. Every item was beautiful.

A member of the family has very kindly got them the dolls house and furniture, they look simply stunning and if the quality is the same as the two items I have got for the girls are going to love them. I have got the girls the princess castle, which to me is the same as a fairy castle, and a pirate ship.

The wooden pirate ship is really easy to put together, it slots together like a jigsaw but is much more sturdy. It comes with 2 pirate figures, 2 cannons and a treasure chest as well as the boat. Given it is priced at £25 I think this is a bargain! I love the details on the sails and that each part of the pirate boat is easily accessible. Both my girls love pirates and whist this is a present for my youngest, it will be something they can play together.

Wooden pirate ship

The princess castle was easy to assemble but it was time consuming. You do need a screwdriver and there are quite a few pieces to put together. Once it is together it is very sturdy and there are so many different play options. You can access all aspects of the castle, front, sides and back and so play can take on many forms. The windows and the doors open and there is plenty of space on the balconies for play here too. The details on the castle are beautiful, butterflies and flowers. A piece which is sure to last the girls for years to come.

Princess Castle

I cannot wait to see the girls faces on Christmas when they open the pirate ship and castle. I also cannot wait to play with them with it and watch the magical stories unfold.

We were provided with the Pirate ship and fairy castle to review.  All words are my own opinion.

When it is 8.30am and the girls have already decided that today they are only going to answer to Snow white and Minnie mouse you sort of know you are going to be having an interesting day.

My eldest is in a Disney Princess phase with Snow White one of her favourite characters.  My youngest loves Minnie Mouse.  In particular we read a story where Minnie dresses as a cow girl and it is one of her favourites, so she likes to dress as cowgirl Minnie.  They played outside for a while in their costumes before getting too hot and so got changed, however they didn't loose character.

My eldest declared that Snow white was tired and needed a rest.  I have no idea why the orange glasses.  Snow White then asked one of the dwarves to push her.  This prompted my youngest to place a bag on her head and walk around the garden shouting hi ho, hi ho.  It was incredibly funny and rather imaginative.

Snow Whites chosen destination was of course the slide.

I love how the girls have started to play more together and how imagination is starting to feature more in their play.  It is so lovely to watch them and hear how they think.

This day I love Snow white and cow girl Minnie Mouse

When I pick the girls up from nursery they are often tired, as am I after a long day at work, but they still want to play.  I don't mind this so much because I have missed them whilst I am at work but at the same time I am tired and don't often have the energy to set up our trusted and favourite messy play.  I am rather glad therefore that I have found Wallies Wall play.

Wallies Wall stickers

Wallies Wall play are not your ordinary wall stickers.  Wall play allows you to do just this, play.  It allows children to use their imagination and creativity to create wall art and have lots of fun thinking up stories around the stickers.  Each vinyl sticker is easily removed from the backing paper and placed on the wall wherever your child desires.  It doesn't stop there because each sticker can then be removed easily from the wall and placed any where you want again and again.

doll house stickerpeeling stickers

The range of Wall play includes doll houses, transport, dress up dolls, aquariums and a princess land to name a few.  We were given the doll house and about town to play with and it has been a huge hit with both girls, but in particular my eldest.

about town stickerscreating town scene

My eldest took an instant shine to the dolls house.  She readily goes up to it and asks to put the lady in the bath, or she is taking the dog for a walk.  Her imagination runs wild with the stories she creates and talks me through.  At 3 years old she has no problem removing the stickers and replacing them on the wall and she loves that she can be this creative.  I love watching her play and after several weeks of rather a lot of play with the stickers she has not yet torn one or removed any paint from my walls.

moving stickercreating scenereplacing stickers

I really love the Wall play stickers.  They are of a great quality and the girls enjoy playing with them.  They are ready set up play that can be returned to again and again, allowing my girls to use their imagination and to be creative.  Wall play stickers are great on an evening when the girls get home from nursery and want to play and I love listening to the stories they create with them.

The finished story

We were sent a dolls house and about town Wallies wall play stickers for the purpose of review.  All opinions are my own.
